There are also different kind of grenades that can be unlocked as well as other accessories such as gas mask and gas-masks for other mutants. The player can upgrade their weaponry through a weapon crafting system which allows them to create miniature grenade launchers, sniper rifles and other such weapons as well as improved engravings on the guns making them more powerful by allowing it to fire more bullets. This feature is unlocked as you complete certain missions. The main objective of the game is to escape from the metro and reach a place called Polis, a city-state where survivors have gathered. There are many side quests the player can partake in as well as dangers they will encounter filled with creatures they need to survive from which prevents them from going on with their primary goal immediately. The player can choose to take on these sub-quests or continue on with their original mission. The sub-quests include; rescuing certain people, fighting off mutants, helping bandits take over stations or even protecting someone who has asked for your help. These can be done in various ways which will ultimately help or hinder the player's original quest. Multiplayer game mode under development, allowing players to form alliances, take over territories and other objectives. It is currently in beta testing phase. It seems that it is just available on Xbox 360 at the moment. Betas should start by December 2010. The game also has an online leaderboard that tracks players' scores based on different experiences in the game's multiplayer mode.
